Hyphenated Domain Names – Cure or Curse?

Hyphenated or dashed domains have long been the favourite of Internet and affiliate marketers. Why? Simply because it allowed them to pack the domain full of the primary keywords for their market. When this all began it was used responsibly by sensible marketers. They saw the benefit of including maybe one keyword in their domain. The search engines didn’t complain and everyone was basically happy.

Then the spammers got hold of it and have now abused it to such an extent that search engines like Google and Yahoo are now beginning to filter hyphenated domains from their search results. This is a case of cause and effect but the funny thing now is that the search engine spammers are whining because of this yet they caused the exact problem they’re now complaining about. The irony eh?

Ooops

Sorry readers it’s just been a busy few weeks in my life with people around me and people passing on (nobody in my immediate family thankfully). I’ve also been working flat out on various projects, I’ve quit smoking, lost weight and increased my fitness level. Yes I am tired!

Last but not least I bought my dream motorbike last week (you did know I’m a biker right??) It’s a Honda CBR1100 Super Blackbird. This is something of a personal goal for me and a little dream come true. To top everything else off I’ve also broken some income goals I’d set myself too.

So like I said I’ve been busy but not forgotten the site or the blog itself. There’s TONS of good stuff coming – it’s just difficult finding the time right now :-)

Why Do You Do Something You Hate?

Have you ever stopped to ask yourself that question? Why do you (when you find yourself hating something) simply continue in that same role or relationship despite the fact that you’re deeply unhappy? For right now the topic of relationships can be left on the shelf and we’ll just look at work instead.

Here’s the question. Do you hate your job?

If the answer is “No” then wonderful continue on with your day as usual and enjoy your job – you’re one of the lucky few on this planet who truly enjoy what they’re doing.

If the answer is a more likely “Yes” then you need to stop right now and ask yourself why you’re staying in a job that you don’t like.

The usual reasons given are:

1. Money
2. Security
3. Jobs are hard to find

Now are these reasons or excuses? There’s a fine line between both. Yes your job may offer you money, security and stability in a volatile jobs market. This is true. I’m not advocating that you simply get up from your desk/office/whatever and just leave your job right now. Nope. What I’d like you to do is this. Imagine yourself at then end of your life and you’re given a chance to review what you did with your time here on earth. Would you be happy with how you used your time (work, relationships etc) or would you look back at where you are now with a sense of regret or pain?

We do things we hate because we justify them in our minds as being necessary. We need that job for money for “things”. The truth is that we don’t need it. No you’re simply afraid of change. Of trying something new. Of living a life that’s remarkable and special. Why be one of the herd?

Once again imagine yourself at the end of your life and you’re watching and reviewing your own life. What would you change about where you are now in life? What choices would you make to improve how you feel. Once you’ve identified those choices then you need to take the first step. Continually doing something you hate is simply an excuse for not having the courage to try something new. It’s that simple.

Finding A Great Web Hosting Company

You’ve done all your brainstorming and come up with an absolutely brilliant domain name that both brands your business and let’s people know what you sell or represent. The next step is finding someplace to host your domain name. Having your own website or web based business is a two step process.

1. Register domain

2. Host domain

After you register the domain name it’s normally “parked” with the registrar. Parking means that the domain registrar will put up a temporary page for you saying that the domain has been registered but nothing has been done with it yet. 99.9% of all domain registrars offer this facility free of charge. This is fine as a temporary measure but the sooner you get your hosting sorted out the better; especially seeing as how most registrars make money from advertising on parked domains. Yup. Really.

The Road To Shambhala

I’ve been posting a bit on books I’ve been reading lately. I’ve taken a break from the psychology stuff to read something a bit more motivational in nature. The Road To Shambhala is the last in the Celestine Prophecy trilogy – I finished The 10th Insight (part 2 of the trilogy) about a week ago.

The final book is a little different to the others in that the story takes place away from the continental United States and moves further east – still a great read however.

Why do I read these books? One simple reason – they focus me. They make me look outside my life as it is now and helps me develop the life I want. The same is true of two of my favourite things to watch in the whole world. They are:

The Secret

What The Bleep Do We Know

If you’ve never seen these before then you need to watch them as soon as you possibly can. If you’ve already seen them then do yourself a favour and watch them again – they’re even better second, third and fourth time around.

Inspiration and motivation won’t come knocking on your front door – you need to go looking for them.

The massive growth of the Internet is like the goldrush of the 1800s all over again. There are thousands of opportunities to get wealthy from doing business online and smart business people have been speculating on Internet “property” since the early 1990’s. Property? Yes believe it or not the buying and selling of Virtual Real Estate (VRE) is huge business. Absolutely massive!
