Sometimes it can be hard to be productive when you are working from home. Often friends and family think that just because you are home you are available for chatting over a cup of coffee, household chores, or running errands. Make sure you are clear with your loved ones that when you are working in your home office you are in fact, at work; and it is very important that you not be disturbed.

Try making set home office hours and tell your family that during these hours it is as if you are not at home. Also, be sure to close your office door and tune our any household tasks waiting to get done like the laundry and the dishes. This is not the time for home upkeep. To really ensure a productive work day, also take the time to organize your office in the most efficient way. Keep everything you will need during your home work day nearby so you don’t have to waste time searching for all of your home office supplies.

If you are suffering from back problems but need to sit a lot for work, you may want to consider trying an exercise ball in place of a traditional office chair. Unlike regular chairs where you passively sit, sometimes slouching (not good for the back), on an exercise ball you actively sit. To stay upright on the exercise ball you must engage your core muscles and lengthen your spine. You not only prevent injuries to your back by sitting this way, you also develop important back and stomach muscles while sitting at work. What can be better than that?

Everyone knows that <a href=“www.homeofficebuddy.com/officecolors.shtml”;colors can affect your mood so it is very important when choosing a home office color to think about the different affects colors may have on your office productivity. Dark oppressive colors like black may make you feel depressed each day at the office and a bright yellow might lead you to think that you are going mad. Blue may be a good color to choose due to its calming effect, but don’t go overboard or it may feel too cold. Most people spend at least eight hours a day in their home offices. Decorate your home office in a way that will be welcoming for you to work and choose a color that will best motivate you to get your work done and feel good about working from home.

Going green and adopting environmentally friendly choices in our everyday life is becoming more and more the norm. Do you know there are also many things you can do to make your home office ecologically efficient? Offices are the largest users of paper. Each individual worker goes through thousands of sheets of this seemingly harmless office supply each year. However, most paper is still produced from the fibers of virgin wood acquired through the felling of our natural forests. You can limit this practice by choosing to buy your office paper from environmentally aware office supply companies that only produce and sell paper created from the wood fibers of replanted forests or from recycled paper. Make a difference in the planet and choose to go green in your home office.

Top 10 Reasons to Add a Home Office
More and more businesses are allowing their employees to work out of the home. They have found that not only does it benefit the employee, but also the business. With more individuals working from home, there has become an increased need for home offices. Here are the top ten reasons why you should add a home office to your house.

Tax Benefits:

When you are self employed, a home office is a great tax benefit. When you use your office solely for business purposes, your computer, telephone, and maintenance expenses can be written off as business expenses. However, when you don’t have a designated home office for your business, none of your expenses can be counted as write offs. A computer sitting in a bedroom cannot be counted as a business expense.

Whether you work at home or in an office, a job is still a job. Everyone needs to work and make money to support their lifestyle. In a perfect world, we could do whatever we wanted with our time and spend our days doing only what we enjoy.

Working is an inevitable part of living. But just because we cannot avoid these money-making activities does not mean that we can’t make that time more pleasant and enjoyable. One of the ways to make working more fun, convenient, and comfortable is to work from home.

Working from home is an ideal work arrangement for many professionals. Whether you dream of walking across the hall to your office and trading in your dress shoes for a pair of bunny slippers or staying home with your family, a home office can successfully fuse work with real life. But even when you work from home, it’s important to establish a pleasant space to do that work that reflects your personal style.
